Well, you really don't need all three melee skills and you really don't need all three ranged skills. Here's my take on having max skill and focus in every skill and some suggestions (full release v1.0.1): (Skill 200) so I'm a bit bummed that I'm not going to hit 300 I might make it but I think I'll have to use an attribute point that I really need to use elsewhere for my late game (I know a few recipes that only sell for 400-2000 denars) So I'm pretty sure I'm not going to reach level 300 I'm 8 hours in, got 2 kids and a nephew half a mil in the bank from trading. I've made a few mistakes and leveled up my bow skill quite a bit. I just started a new game and wanted to get my trade maxed before I start playing properly. They'll improve relations, their charm skill and crucially your charm skill. Your younger siblings will act as emissaries in the town they are in while they grow up. In addition, rescue your family later if you don't want your charm to increase. That way your passive skills, other than riding/athletics, shouldn't eat into your max level for the skills you want to max. Set them as your quartermater, scout, surgeon, maybe engineer but you won't be sieging early game. Get yourself a wife/husband and 2/3 companions asap. First thing you need to do at the start of the game is go to Poros, buy hogs, butch them and sell them back. You need to start the game with a bow, that's for sure. You need to decide what type of character you want to be and really prepare for that in the early game. This forces you to become 'specialist' and simultaneously drops your max level in each skill. When you level up the learning rate drops in all skills.
